Common Questions

Everything you need to know.

R8way is different by design. We prioritize ownership, clarity, and production-readiness over convenience abstractions.

1. What exactly am I buying?

You are purchasing a production-ready blueprint. Each R8way product is a self-contained, code-first system—comprising infrastructure layouts, pipelines, APIs, and automation patterns—that you can run, study, and adapt within your own environment.

Think of it as acquiring the IP and architectural decisions of a mature platform team, without the overhead of hiring one. The value lies in the design, structure, and codified decisions embedded in the system itself, rather than in an onboarding call or managed setup.

2. Do you provide support, consulting, or customization?

R8way is strictly a digital product library, which means we do not offer consulting services, custom implementation, or troubleshooting support.

We intentionally structured our products this way to ensure they stand on their own. Each blueprint includes comprehensive documentation explaining how the system is structured and why specific decisions were made. This approach guarantees that the product remains independent, durable, and usable without requiring ongoing vendor involvement or "black box" dependencies.

Note: While we don't fix specific implementation issues in your environment, we welcome reports of bugs in the core blueprints.

3. How often are products updated?

Updates are intentional rather than continuous. We design R8way products to be stable foundations, similar to a structural blueprint for a building, rather than fast-moving software frameworks that constantly break compatibility.

We release updates when a blueprint meaningfully evolves or when best practices shift significantly. However, you should expect to own the code once you adopt it. Just like any serious production system, the goal is for you to understand the structure and evolve it based on your specific needs over time.

4. Who are these products for?

Our blueprints are built specifically for experienced DevOps and platform engineers.

R8way allows you to move faster by providing a robust starting point, but it assumes you are comfortable reading and modifying code, understanding architectural trade-offs, and managing infrastructure. These are not beginner tutorials or "no-code" tools; they are professional-grade systems for teams who value long-term ownership and structural clarity.

5. Is this tied to a specific cloud or tool?

Our designs are pragmatic, not dogmatic. We believe in avoiding vendor lock-in where it hurts (logic, workflows) while embracing managed services where they add massive value (databases, queues).

Some products are cloud-specific to leverage those native strengths, while others emphasize portability. The goal isn't theoretical neutrality, but practical efficiency and maintainability.

Defining Boundaries

What R8way Is Not

To ensure the right fit, it is important to understand what we do not offer. R8way is not a consulting service, a managed platform, or a "one-click" low-code solution. It is not a replacement for engineering judgment.

"We build starting points with strong defaults for teams that want clarity, ownership, and the ability to evolve systems themselves."

  • Not a consulting service
  • Not a managed platform
  • Not a low-code tool
  • Not a constantly updated framework
